System Design & Deep Dive

VaakCMS Architecture

Modular, decoupled architecture pairing high-throughput TypeScript runtimes with Python CLAHE image preprocessing, quantized Small Language Models, and Anvesh hybrid search.

Part I

Logical Architecture

Omnichannel content domain model, live preview postMessage bridge, FSM editorial workflow quorums, immutable SHA-256 versioning, and semantic motif discovery.

Omnichannel Content Domain

Decouples content representation from presentation channels. Articles, products, dynamic layouts, and rich media assets are modeled as typed JSON entities, versioned as immutable Merkle trees with SHA-256 verification.

Real-Time Live Preview Bridge

The @vaak/preview-bridge library connects the editorial studio with downstream React/Next.js/Vue frontends via secure window.postMessage communication, rendering keystroke-level draft updates without saving.

Multi-Approver Editorial Quorum

Powered by VaakWorkflow's mathematical finite-state machine. Content transitions through strict verification states with configurable quorum rules (e.g., 2 legal + 1 marketing sign-offs required before production release).

Privacy-Preserving Document Extraction

In-process Wasm OCR paired with sub-billion parameter local SLMs extracts clinical diagnosis codes (ICD-10), insurance policies, and financial ledgers locally with zero cloud API leakage.

Technical Architecture & Physical Deployment Topology

Physical Kubernetes container sizing, FFmpeg/libvips media worker pools, zero-locking VaagaGraph storage, and bounded chunking multi-cloud persistence.

1. EDGE INGRESS & GLOBAL ACCELERATION CloudFront / Fastly CDN (TLS 1.3, Dynamic Brotli / Gzip) WAF Rate Limiting & Origin Shield Caching (Hit Ratio > 94%) 2. KUBERNETES HEADLESS DELIVERY & STUDIO PODS (PORTS 4200 / 9090) VaakCMS Delivery Pod (Active) • Fastify GraphQL 3.0 & OpenAPI 3.1 (Port 4200) • Node.js 24 LTS (--max-old-space-size=768, 1GB RAM) • Sub-10ms cached response latencies Editorial Studio & Admin Hub (Active) • React 19 visual canvas & live preview bridge • Prometheus Telemetry Scrape (Port 9090) • Active-Active multi-AZ deployment with 0 downtime 3. 1GB Pod Envelopes & Memory Guard

Headless delivery and editorial pods operate on 1000m CPU and 1024MiB RAM with --max-old-space-size=768. A strict 85% memory ceiling sheds non-critical cache warmers if memory pressure rises, guaranteeing 0 container restarts.

Dedicated Media Transcoder Plane

High-CPU media transcoding (FFmpeg 4K and libvips WebP conversion) is decoupled from HTTP delivery pods. Workers execute in autoscaling Kubernetes worker pools with dedicated GPU/CPU nodes, preventing delivery latency degradation.

Bounded Chunking Persistence

Heavy assets and document corpora are sliced into variable chunks (64KB to 4MB) with SHA-256 deduplication and AES-256-GCM encryption. Chunks are distributed across multi-cloud object stores with automatic failover.

Active-Active Clustering & DR

Stateless delivery pods deployed across 3 availability zones behind global Anycast DNS. Tag-based Redis 7 invalidation purges edge caches in under 50ms upon publish. Database RPO = 0, RTO < 10 seconds.

Premier OCR & Small Language Model Pipeline

Decoupled document intelligence pairing Wasm OCR with specialized sub-billion parameter local models for privacy-preserving extraction.

Clinical & Medical Records

Parses patient MRNs, attending physicians, clinical diagnoses, standardized ICD-10 codes (e.g. E11.9, I10), and itemized drug prescriptions with verified dosages.

Insurance Claim Forms

Extracts policy numbers (POL-99281-B), incident dates, deductible thresholds, line-item property damages, and net approved settlement amounts without cloud leakage.

Financial Invoices & Receipts

Extracts vendor tax identification numbers, payment due dates, tabular line-item matrices, tax distributions, and verified invoice grand totals.

Adaptive Python Preprocessing Engine (ocr_engine.py): When low-quality, blurry, or unevenly lit document scans are ingested, VaakCMS automatically routes payloads through adaptive Contrast Limited Adaptive Histogram Equalization (CLAHE), Unsharp Mask edge enhancement, and Radon/Hough deskewing (±45°).

Motif Feature Vectors & Visual Similarity

Every scanned document and image asset generates a 64-bit Difference Hash (dHash) and a normalized 64-dimensional motif feature vector.

Duplicate Scan Detection: Document duplicates and near-identical revisions with a Hamming distance ≤ 4 bits are automatically flagged during upload, preventing storage bloat and ensuring tamper detection.

Online vs. Offline Batch Media Governor

Preserves sub-50ms API responsiveness through dynamic payload routing and transparent rationale telemetry.

Asset Profile Routing Mode Processing Guarantee & Telemetry
Images & Documents ≤ 10 MB INLINE_SYNC Processed synchronously in <50ms (transcoding, palette extraction, pHash generation). Returned immediately in API response.
Videos, 4K Footage, Files > 10 MB OFFLINE_BATCH Dispatched to asynchronous background queue with distributed FFmpeg worker. Returns 202 Accepted with unique jobId and progress webhook.

Zero-SQLite Content Storage & Bounded Chunking Engine

Cloud-native 3-tier decoupled storage: VaagaiGraph topology, Anvesh hybrid search, and pluggable multi-cloud object storage with bounded 1MB chunks and Merkle tree proofs.

Azure & OCI File Storage

Native integration with Azure Blob Storage, Azure Files (SMB/NFS shares), OCI Object Storage (PAR tokens), and OCI File Storage Service (FSS) alongside AWS S3, GCP, and on-prem NAS.

Bounded Chunking (64KB - 4MB)

Files are never stored as single oversized blobs. The engine slices payloads into bounded chunks (default 1MB, ceiling 4MB), each independently encrypted with AES-256-GCM.

Merkle Tree & Range Streaming

SHA-256 Merkle root hashes detect any chunk corruption. HTTP 206 partial byte-range decoding decrypts only requested slices for instant 4K video scrubbing.

Zero-SQLite Guarantee: All entity relationships, metadata revisions, and security matrices live as native nodes and edges in VaagaiGraph with zero disk-level SQLite locks, while content streams are encrypted at rest with rotating KEK management.
